Sustainable by nature

We feel a strong responsibility to contribute to one of today’s biggest challenges: to provide a secure source of healthy food for everyone. We work in and with nature every day and respect its laws. By continuously developing high-yielding and disease resistant varieties, we stimulate the (organic) growth of healthy crops worldwide. Today, 40% of our seeds are grown organically. We aim to increase this percentage continuously by breeding fully resistant varieties which are suitable for organic growth. Food crops that are resistant to disease and adapted to new climatic conditions are key to climate resilient and environmentally sustainable agriculture.

Circular building

Our sustainable commitment also extends to our headquarters in Andijk, which includes our laboratory, offices, and warehouse. Our office is open, welcoming, and modern, as is our company culture. It respects its natural environment. We applied the principles of circular building, making it a fully sustainable building. 

Our new warehouse, that opened in 2018, is equipped with the most advanced solar panels. Thus, it generates the delicate climate conditions that are necessary for seed storage in a 100% natural way. We also stimulate a sustainable work- and lifestyle: over 40% of our people come to work by bicycle and we stimulate driving electric.

We strongly believe that the perfect match between high quality seeds and the local growing conditions is what makes crops prosper. With over 60 years of global experience with the most challenging soil conditions, we are able to create seeds for all (sub-) tropical conditions.
